Paris, Tenn.—In inmate in the care of the Henry Co. Sheriff’s Office died following a stroke, according to a press release issued today by the sheriff’s office.
Christopher Archie, age 34, of Mansfield, died February 21 at Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since suffering a medical episode at the jail on February 16.
According to the press release, Archie was processed into the Henry Co. Jail on January 29 as a fugitive from justice on allegations of theft in Georgia and Wyoming.
While incarcerated, Archie became unresponsive after suffering the medical episode on February 16. Henry County EMS responded, transported Archie to Henry Co. Medical Center. Archie was later transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
An autopsy revealed that Archie suffered a stroke on February 16, according to Captain Adam Jenkins.
Archie’s funeral was held Tuesday at the Henry Co. Tabernacle. Ridgeway Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chris Archie family,” Jenkins said.
