State Of Emergency Declared In Tennessee; Reelfoot, Other Local Areas Hit Hard

Nashville, Tenn.—Governor Bill Lee has declared a statewide state of emergency in Tennessee due to the widespread flooding.
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency activated the Tennessee Emergency Management plan Saturday, with the state currently at Level 3 out of 5.
Governor Lee is reminding residents of the state to follow the instructions of emergency officials and continue being alert to the riding floodwaters.
Multiple rescues and evacuations are occurring all over the state, as well as road closures and mud and rock slides over roadways.
In the local area, Reelfoot Lake State Park and South Fulton were hard hit by flooding. In South Fulton, residents were getting around with kayaks in flooded streets and back yards.
Reelfoot is experiencing massive flooding, with the boardwalk, roads and cabins now closed. Officials said the cabins will be closed until March 11 or until the water resides.
The Bald Eagles and other birds who live in the aviaries at Reelfoot are safe. Rangers have moved them to safer spot and are working daily to see their needs are met and that they are safe.
WENK/WTPR has posted photos from South Fulton and Reelfoot on our website and Facebook pages.
