BPU Looks To Possibility Of Providing Broadband Services To Henry Countians

Paris, Tenn. – At a work session Tuesday morning, members of the Board of Public Utilities’ board of directors looked ahead to the possibility of providing broadband services to Henry Co. residents.
“We have seen similar sized, rural, public utilities be extremely successful in growing their communities through the offering of broadband services,” Wimberley said. “Before we are willing to bite off this endeavor though, we feel we must do our due diligence to insure we are making the best decision for our customers.”
During the work session, Wimberley outlined the initial steps for BPU as they explore entering the broadband industry. He explained to board members that the initial step would be to engage industry experts to develop a potential business plan, based on data collected from a customer survey gauging the community’s interest in broadband services.
Board members will vote on whether BPU will be engaging the services of Kersey Consulting Services and Younger & Associates, both of Jackson, Tennessee at next Thursday’s board meeting.
