Paris, Tenn.—Thanks to a court security grant, a parking area for judges and law enforcement is being constructed on the southwest section of the Henry County Courthouse.
Henry County Mayor Brent Greer said the parking area will provide a more secure area for the judges and law enforcement to park.
The county’s courthouse security committee recommended the grant be sought and the county commissioners approved it during a meeting several months ago.
Greer told WENK/WTPR Thursday morning it will provide parking closer to the door for the two judges who work from the courthouse, as well as law enforcement.
Exposed aggregate concrete will be utilized and the parking area will be landscaped “so that it will be attractive.” The bricks on the walkway in that section of the courthouse lawn also will be repoured, he said.
Depending on weather conditions, Greer said, the project should be complete by the end of March.
He said two of the parking spots currently reserved for judges and law enforcement around the court square will be freed up for the public once the project is complete.
