Murray Double Murder Suspect Held On $2M Bond, Victims Identified

Murray, Ky.—The Murray man who is accused in the double murder of two women in a Murray home Thursday evening is being held on $2 M bond in the Calloway Co. Jail.
Calloway County Coroner Ricky Garland has identified the victims as: Evelyn Scott, 77, and Tera Todd, 37, both of Murray.
Shannon Scott, age 51, was arrested on two charges of first-degree murder, animal cruelty, burglary and tampering with evidence.
More details have been released in the criminal complaint filed against Scott. According to the complaint, Scott allegedly forced his way into the home on Catalina Drive and stabbed one of the women multiple times while she was seated in a chair. Police said in the complaint that the woman was his girlfriend and she ran to get help but died in a neighbor’s garage.
According to the complaint, Scott then killed the other woman and killed her dog and then attempted to hide the crime by “mopping, using the shower, and hiding the dog’s body”.
In a press release issued early this morning by the Murray Police, it was reported that the crime was discovered when the neighbors came home, found the woman in their garage and thought it was their neighbor. When police entered the neighboring home, they found the other victim and found Scott in the bathroom.
Autopsies on the two victims are being performed at the medical examiner’s office in Louisville.
