Dover, Tenn.–These are activities at Fort Donelson National Battlefield Park in Dover this weekend:
Saturday, February 9th and Sunday, February 10th
Encampment Open to Public:
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
Military/Rifle Firing Demonstrations:
11:00 am, 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm, each day.
(rifle firing demonstrations conducted adjacent to the Fort Donelson Park Visitor Center (120 Fort Donelson Park Rd, Dover)
Tour Stop #5 “Smith’s Attack,” inside the main unit of Fort Donelson National Battlefield.
Members of the 9th Kentucky Infantry living history unit will be within camp as they hold programs in relation to the 157th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Donelson.
Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with members of this knowledgeable group, and learn about life of the typical Union soldier of the Fort Donelson campaign.
Excellent military/tactical demonstrations will provide an understanding into equipment, drill, tactics, and the firing of muzzle-loading rifles of 1862.
It is expected to be a very cold day, so dress appropriately.
