Union City, Tenn.–A carhop at the Sonic Drive-In in Union City was struck by a vehicle and reportedly will be undergoing surgery for a possible broken leg and other injuries.
The Sonic building by the drive-through window also was damaged in the accident.
Union City Police said Taylor Burress, age 18, of Union City, was struck by a car driven by Jennifer Cross, age 48, also of Union City. Cross told officers that she was reaching for something she had dropped and her foot hit the gas pedal. She said she thought the vehicle was in park.
The victim was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
