MARTIN, Tenn. – Skipper Bondurant, Jim Cheatham and Jamie Worrell, all of Obion County, were selected to participate in the University of Tennessee at Martin’s WestStar Leadership Program class of 2019.
Bondurant, administrator and chief executive officer of Baptist Memorial Hospital Union City, serves on the boards of the Northwest Tennessee Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Union City Industrial Development and the Tennessee Hospital Association Small and Rural Healthcare Constituency. He was also recognized in the Memphis Business Journal’s “Top 40 Under 40.” Bondurant is a Leadership Obion County graduate.
Cheatham, president of Universal Contractors, LLC, serves on the executive board of the West Tennessee Area 6 Council and the Southern Region board of the Boy Scouts of America. He is also a recipient of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce Emerging Leader Award, the President’s Volunteer Service Award and the National Distinguished Service Award by the Order of the Arrow, among other recognitions. Cheatham is a graduate of both the Leadership Obion County and Dyer County programs.
Worrell, human resource client manager at Center Point Business Solutions, LLC, serves as vice president and production producer for the Masquerade Theatre. He has also previously served on the design committee for the Main Street board, as a coordinator for the community tree lighting and as vocal director for the Obion County Youth Musical at the Obion County Fair. Worrell is an Obion County Adult Leadership graduate.
Bondurant, Cheatham and Worrell join 27 other participants from 15 counties at a series of seminars held through June that focus on topics such as economic development, public policy, education and technology.
The WestStar Leadership Program was founded at UT Martin in 1989 and is the state’s oldest and largest regional leadership program. The program equips regional leaders with new skills

and knowledge designed to impact the educational, economic and social development of West Tennessee. The program also provides members with a growing network of community-minded people committed to serving the area. Dr. Charley Deal serves as WestStar executive director.
