Martin, Tenn.—A Martin woman is charged with felony theft after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a driveway in Martin. She was arrested in Stewart County Tuesday.
Arrested was Jennifer L. Murphy, age 35. She will be formally charged with felony theft by Martin Police after facing additional charges in Stewart County.
Martin Police Officer Adam Harrison responded to 508 Fonville St. in reference to a stolen vehicle complaint around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. At the residence, he was informed by the vehicle owner, Bryce Hawks that his 1998 Ford Ranger had been stolen out of his driveway. Officers spoke to a neighbor that was a witness to the vehicle being driven away from the residence and the vehicle was entered as being stolen.
Shortly after midnight, Martin Police Department was contacted by Stewart County Sheriff’s Department and they advised that they had made contact with the stolen vehicle and the person driving it. Murphy was taken into custody after being discovered in possession of the stolen vehicle and matching the description that was provided by the witness.
