Union City, Tenn.—A vehicle stolen from a lot in Union City was recovered in Rives, but Union City Police are still seeking the suspects in the theft.
Officers were dispatched to Morris Truck & Tractor at 2110 W. Reelfoot Ave. on Monday. Video surveillance footage showed a black truck, believed to be a Dodge Dakota, with a bunch of decals on the back window glass of the car, coming in and out of the parking lot several times.
At around 11:48 p.m., one of the two male subjects got out of the truck, went to
one of the vehicles and lifted the hood of the car.
According to the police report, the video shows him running back to the truck. The subject stole two batteries from cars on the lot and video then shows the same subject going to another area of the lot and getting into a few more cars.
At around 12:30 p m, the subject entered a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV (dark gray in color), starting it and then driving it from the lot. The video shows the other subject running back to the truck they came in and both of the subjects leaving on in the stolen vehicle.
The estimated value of the stolen vehicle is $6,400. The two stolen batteries are valued at $200.
A BOLO was sent out to law enforcement in west Tennessee and Kentucky. Later that day, the vehicle was recovered at 720 N. Church St. in Rives.
