Union City, Tenn.–Union City’s eight-game winning streak came to an end with a 58-41 loss to fourth-ranked Columbia Academy Saturday night.
The Tornadoes made six of their seven 3-pointers in the opening quarter when they led 20-15, but were outscored 43-21 over the final three periods.
The news was much-better for UC girls, who picked up their 10th win of the season with a 49-37 triumph over the Lady Lions.
Jada Williams poured in a game-high 23 points and the Twister girls hit 7-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to bounce back from a sub-par charity line effort two nights earlier.
A pair of critical District 13A road dates await the Purple and Gold teams this week.
Tuesday’s scheduled game at Bradford has been moved up a night to tonight by the host team as they anticipate inclement weather.
The Union City girls will look to sew up a first round home district tournament game by beating the Lady Red Devils.
South Fulton will host the Tornadoes on Friday.
And the Twister boys can wrap up the regular season league championship and a berth in the 13A semifinals with one win in their final three district games.

Williams tallied 14 of her team-best 23 markers in the second half when the Tornadoes girls built on a slim 25-24 halftime lead.
Stephens had all but one of her points over the final three periods.
UC is now 10-12 overall, 4-5 in the district.

Tyler Walton connected three times from long range and Ben McMillan, Kaler Bobo and Tariq Broadway also had 3-point baskets as the Tornadoes got off to another fast start.

Columbia Academy (19-4) took advantage and went ahead 35-24 at the half and was up 51-32 after three.
McMillan led UC with 12 points, one more than Walton.
