Paris, Tenn.–The Henry County Sheriff’s Office Deputies for the Hungry will have two community giveaways of free deer meat this year.
Captain Adam Jenkins said the program was a huge success this year, with a total of 224 deer harvested, breaking the previous year.
The two community giveaways will be: 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, at the Puryear Community Center, and from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, January 31, at the Henry Civic Center.
Each year a drawing is held with everyone’s name that brought a deer in. This year the prizes were a .308 Ruger American Rifle donated by County Commissioner Kreg Kyle and a $1,000 gift card to Kroger donated by Jamie Orr of Wells Fargo Advisors and Joe Turner of Kroger.
This year’s winners of the drawings were Will Gurton who won the Rifle and Finis Bell who won the Kroger gift card.
Some of the deer meat has already been given away to the Harvest Food Bank and for the Sulphur Well Church of Christ wild game dinner.
Jenkins said, “The Henry County Sheriff’s Office would like to give a special thanks to all the sportsmen who donated deer to support this program, without them this would not be possible.”
