Paris Man Charged In Connection With Church Vandalisms, Burglaries

Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man has been arrested in connection with the string of thefts and vandalism at churches in the state line and Hazel area after he was tracked by Henry Co. Sheriff’s Cpl. Stacey Bostwick and his K9 Rowdy early this morning.
Matthew Freeland, age 25, of East Ridge Dr., was charged with burglary, theft and driving on a suspended license. He also will face charges in Calloway Co.
Chief Deputy Damon Lowe said the Henry County Sheriffs Office was requested to assist officers from Calloway Co. this morning around 3:15 am.
As Calloway Co. officers were patrolling the Hazel area, they came across a person in a vehicle parked on one of the church parking lots. “As they approached the individual, he took off running and ended up running across the state line into Tennessee,” Lowe said.
The person running was identified as Freeland Officers responding did verify that he had two active felony warrants and one non-felony warrant on him out of Henry County.
Cpl Bostwick and Rowdy arrived and began a track on Freeland at approx. 3:30 am.
After an approximately one-half mile track Rowdy did locate Freeland in Tennessee and he was taken into custody. Freeland was transported to the Henry Co. Corrections and was charged with his active warrants of burglary, theft over $1,000 and driving on a suspended license.
His bond was set at $20,000 and is to appear in General Sessions court on Jan. 22 at 9:00 am.
