"Old School" And "New School" Come Together At MLK Day Activity

Paris, Tenn.–Players from the ‘Old School’ and the ‘New School’ teams pray together Monday morning before the Martin Luther King Jr. program this morning at the old Central School gym in Paris. Team captains were Zac Teague from the Class of 2004 and James King from the Class of 2018.
Giving pep talks for unity to the teams and the audience were Ricky Searcy, a Central School graduate and civic leader, and Cordon Hight, Inman teacher and coach.
Searcy said he would like to see everyone come together, not just on Martin Luther King Jr. Day each year. “Martin Luther King means a lot to me because I grew up in that era. We need to let the kids know what we went through,” he said.
Hight said, “We need to make an impact where we are and show acceptance for what we are.”
A service with pastors and choirs from several local churches will be held Monday night at 6 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Paris.
