Paris, Tenn.–Minnie Pearl–also known as Jane Gibson of Springville–was both a hit and a hoot at the Wings Of Winter banquet Saturday night at the Henry Co. Fairgrounds. A large number of people were on hand for the banquet, which capped off this week’s Wings of Winter Birding Festival. The Festival drew birding and wildlife enthusiasts from eight states and from as far away as Utah. The Festival included presentations and field trips to the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge, the Land Between the Lakes and Kentucky Lake tours and involved participation from a host of agencies, including the refuge, LBL, Paris-Henry Co. Chamber, Stewart Co. Chamber, Fort Donelson, Paris Landing State Park, Tennessee Wildlife Association and more. Guest speaker was Richard Crossley of Yorkshire, England, an internationally acclaimed birder, photographer and award winning author of ‘The Crossley ID Guide’ series. Organizer Kimi Moody Fitzhugh said the reviews from participants have been very good and plans are already being made for next year’s event. (Shannon McFarlin photo).
