McKenzie, Tenn.—The two Fred’s Pharmacies in Carroll Co. have now joined others in the area that are closing or have already closed.
McKenzie’s Fred’s Pharmacy ceased operations January 8 and the Huntingdon pharmacy closed January 14.
The Fred’s Pharmacy in Paris already closed, as has the one at the Milan Fred’s store.
Fred’s reportedly will continue to operate pharmacies in its stores in Dresden and Greenfield.
The closings are part of the purchase agreement between Fred’s Inc. and Walgreens. The agreement called for Walgreens to acquire pharmacy patient prescription files of 185 Fred’s stores in 10 Southeastern states.
