Governor Haslam To Attend UTM Advisory Board Meeting Wednesday

MARTIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam will be attending Wednesday’s meeting of the new advisory board for the University of Tennessee at Martin.
The new advisory board was created by the UT FOCUS Act passed by the state legislature in 2018. The meeting will be held at 1 p.m.  Wednesday, Jan. 9, in room 206 of the UT Martin Boling University Center.
The following UT Martin Advisory Board members were appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam, confirmed by the General Assembly and announced late last year:

  • Hal Bynum, of Sharon, Nutrien Ag Solutions Inc.
  • Monice Hagler, of Memphis; The Hagler Law Group,  and Archway Title and Escrow, UT Martin ’75, UT Knoxville ‘78
  • Art Sparks, of Union City, Alexander Thompson Arnold UT Martin ‘76
  • Kyle Spurgeon, of Jackson, Jackson Chamber of Commerce
  • Julia Wells, of Bells, The Pictsweet Company, UT Knoxville ‘61

Agenda items include:

  • Review of UT FOCUS Act legislation and the role of the advisory board
  • Adoption of bylaws
  • Election of a chair
  • Appointment of a student board member
  • Election of a secretary
  • Discussion of future dates for regular board meetings
