Mayfield, Ky.—Graves Co. Sheriff Dewayne Redmon took the oath of office Friday, along with two new deputies, Jailer George Workman and the new Coroner Brad Jones.
Redmon was re-elected as sheriff in November, but he is facing charges of official misconduct and drug possession and can only perform administrative duties. Redmon is accused of taking hydrocodone from the department’s drug drop box for his personal use and his restricted duties are a condition of his ongoing bond.
Meanwhile, two new deputies are on board at the sheriff’s office. Jacob Hamm, age 26, has lived in Murray for several years and most recently worked as a Jailer at the Graves Co. department. Brandon Awbery, age 32, is from Symsonia and has worked as a court security office, for the Mayfield Police and for the Hickman County’s Sheriff’s Office.
