Union City, Tenn.—Long-time Union City Daily Messenger Advertising Manager Arthur Melton, age 92, a resident of Union City, died Friday, December 21, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee.
Melton worked over 65 years at The Messenger, retiring as advertising manager. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired a major in the Tennessee National Guard. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a life member of the VFW Post 4862.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at White-Ranson Funeral Home with Dr. Cecil Sewell officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Wednesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Scott Melton, David Critchlow, Scott Critchlow, Todd Tilghman, Mike Hutchens, David Fuzzell and Kevin Weaks. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of the Union City Daily Messenger.
Mr. Melton was born February 27, 1926, in Martin, TN, son of the late Arthur and Bertha (Vaughn) Melton. He married Glenda Logan February 17, 1951. She died September 4, 2008.

Mr. Melton is survived by a son, Glenn Melton of Union City; a grandson, Scott Melton of Three Way; and a special caregiver, Linda Scarborough, of Three Way.
