Christmas Celebrations Galore At Union City Schools

By Mike Hutchens, UC Schools Communications Director

Union City, Tenn.–The Christmas celebrations continue in the Union City School System.

The kindergarten class at Union City Elementary School twice presented their annual Christmas program for family members and the remainder of the student body at the school today.

The Voices of UCES – made up of third- and fourth-graders – also presented their last performance of a busy season.

The Voices had already sung at a variety of functions, including several area nursing homes, the UC Rotary Club, Chimes for Charity and the Obion County Public Library.

Both groups are under the direction of Kathleen Parker, music teacher at the school.

The Union City High School Key Club and Art Club lent their talents and help to the local Merry Christmas Mart and Breakfast with Santa at Immaculate Conception earlier this month.

UCHS Key Club members assisted vendors in unloading and loading their merchandise on Friday night and Saturday.

UCHS Art Club members painted faces during the Breakfast with Santa portion of the event on Saturday morning.

Former UCHS guidance counselor Winnie Logan enlisted the help of the clubs, and the church members were thrilled with the extra assistance for the popular and busy event.

The Union City High School Pep Club was in mid-season form earlier this week when the Tornado basketball teams hosted Dresden.

The group sported an “ESPN” theme at the contests, complete with an improvised broadcasting table and head phones.

Other students wore jerseys from their favorite teams and/or players.
