Paris, Tenn.—Paris Firefighters were called to retrieve a backpack full of marijuana that had been thrown on a roof by a suspect while he was trying to dodge his arrest.
Desman Howard, age 24, of 706 Cooper St., was arrested by Paris Police on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
According to the police report, Paris Police Sgt. Jamie James was called to a home in the 500 block of West Wood Street Friday and when he arrived, he could see Howard sitting on the porch with the backpack nearby. James could smell the odor of marijuana and observed Howard walk to the side of the house and throw the backpack on the roof.
The Paris Fire Department was called to the scene to assist and firefighters climbed a ladder onto the roof to retrieve the backpack.
According to the report, there also were two pistols near him when arrested. His bond is set at $5,000.
