Huntingdon Main Street Christmas Set For Saturday

Huntingdon, Tenn.–Join The Dixie and the Town of Huntingdon on Saturday, December 8, as they officially embark upon the Christmas season with Main Street Christmas – an annual event in Downtown Huntingdon. Main Street Christmas abounds with the quaint charm of hometown Christmases past.  Live nativity, carolers, open shops, hot chocolate, Santa and an official tree lighting where the community welcomes Christmas together is sure to put you in the Christmas spirit.
Beginning at 2 PM, this year’s Main Street Christmas will include:
Pictures with Santa by A. Wilson Photography, located in The Dixie. The Dixie gift shop will be open for those last-minute Christmas gifts, including tickets to Dixie performances.
Live Nativity with accompanying church choirs, 2- 6 PM
ISTEA Train Rides, 2- 4 PM
It’s A Wonderful Life, Court Theatre, 2 PM (free admission, presented by Carroll Bank & Trust)
The Nutcracker, The Court Theatre, Special Friday night performance and concessions, open to all,  Saturday performances at 4:30 (ending in time for the parade) & 7:30PM, regular admission
The Lighting of The Tree in front of City Hall on Main Street, including a small ceremony and Christmas carols with your neighbors, 5:15PM
Holiday Characters on the Square with Buddy the Elf, 5:30-6:30PM
Bill Willoughby Memorial Christmas Parade, 6:30PM
 
At the Colonial Tea Room visit with Mrs. Claus and help her make reindeer food, face paint, play in the snow, and write a letter to Santa while everyone enjoys one of Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Cookies and her hot chocolate with marshmallows from the North Pole. Mrs. Claus’ doorman will collect $5 from everyone to help Mrs. Claus with expenses since Santa Claus is spending all of their money on making toys for all the good boys and girls.
 
Local shops will be spreading holiday cheer with Christmas specials and giveaways throughout the day.  Look for:
 

  • Bill’s Flowers– 10% off cash and carry
  • The Gift Grove – 20% off entire stock excluding Hobo’s & Ronaldo’s
  • Lawrence Designs – discount on candles (Buy 2 Tins, get 3rd half price)
  • Mockingbird Threadworks – 20% off store wide on in-stock items unless better savings apply, 40% off Christmas-themed items, Erimish bracelets $4 ea. Open until 5.
  • Maple on Main / Merle Norman – 10% off everything with exception of Merle Norman Products

 

  • Presbyterian Church – Will have fire pits and they will be selling fundraiser $1 smores. This will happen 2-6pm
  • Beyond The Ivy/Small Town Blessings – Drinks, Discounts and Dry Hollow Soaps

 
Pop up shops will be in various buildings around the Court Square and a map will be available during the event at these locations.
 
FirstBank will have vendors set up in lobby at the Main Branch on Main Street.  Clark Street Baptist Church will have food and Christmas treats at the FirstBank Community Building.
 
The Bill Willoughby Memorial Christmas Parade will be on Saturday December 8th at 6:30 p.m. The parade will start on West Main Street and progress to, and around, the south side of the court square and then onto East Main Street. The parade will conclude after turning onto 5th Avenue. To register to enter the parade, and be eligible for prize money, call the Huntingdon Police Department at 731-986-5310. The deadline to enter the parade for the judging is Friday December 7th at 3 p.m.
