Paris, Tenn.–Three dignitaries who are favorites among Henry Countians have been named the 2018 Holly Jolly Electric Christmas Parade Grand Marshal and Downtown Paris Ambassadors. Sponsored by Nobel Automotive, and presented by the Downtown Paris Association (DPA), the parade steps off at 5 pm, Saturday, December 8, immediately following Santa’s Christmas Festival.
News Channel 5 award-winning anchor and reporter, Amy Watson and her family will kick off the parade through festive Downtown Paris. Watson is from Murray.
“We are so excited to have Amy as parade grand marshal,” said Steve Parker, DPA parade committee member. “Amy grew up in Murray, graduated from Murray State University and has always kept her ties to our wonderful area. A recipient of Murray State University’s 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award, she is an outstanding example of what young people from our area can achieve,” he said.
Watson, a mother of three, is also the author of the children’s book. During Santa’s Christmas Festival, she will be at White and Associates Insurance – Wimberley Agency to visit with fans, and sell and sign Hairdresser’s Baby, which uses a tiny teacher to share a big life lesson. “We invite everyone to stop by our office, enjoy some refreshments and welcome our grand marshal,” said Tommy Wimberley.
John and Jane Etheridge are the 2018 DPA Ambassadors, a designation that celebrates champions of Downtown Paris. “Throughout his career as the general manager of the Board of Public Utilities, John was incredibly supportive as the DPA worked to improve our Christmas lighting, free festivals, and other activities. John has been one of our great ‘idea people’ who is full of common sense, but not afraid to think outside the box,” said DPA Director Kathy Ray. Today, as a retiree, John Etheridge continues that devotion as our board chair.” Etheridge also is active on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce, 911, First United Methodist Church and Rotary Club.
“Jane Etheridge retired from Murray State as an educator and now stays busy serving local non-profits,” said Ray. She is a CASA and a Set Free Ministries board member, a member of the First United Methodist Church Mission Team and a dance teacher at Lee Academy for the arts. The couple has four grown children.
