Cookeville, Tenn.–After a lengthy weather delay, TSSAA officials decided to delay the State 5A football game between the Henry Co. High School Patriots and Knoxville Central until 2 p.m. Sunday.
A delay of game announcement was made shortly before tonight’s 7 p.m. start time due to lightning strikes. Fans were told to leave the stadium, with many going to their cars and others staying in the interior areas of the stadium.
A meeting was held between officials of the Patriots, Knoxville Central team and TSSAA at 8:30 tonight and the decision to delay the game until 2 p.m. Sunday was made.
