Union City, Tenn.–Discovery Park of America will be the place to be this weekend, with plenty of holiday activities planned.
Friday, 11/23 BLACK FRIDAY SCIENCE STATION IN DINO HALL– The Education Department at Discovery Park of America is offering a special science class this Friday. Maggie Goodman, formerly of Fulton County, will be conducting a Black Friday Science Station in Dinosaur Hall Friday, November 23rd from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Maggie is an educator at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. She is going to assist DPA guests in making an instrument on which to play their favorite Christmas song. Plus, she will talk about the science of sound and everyone can participate in playing a few favorite holiday tunes! This special Black Friday science class is free for members and anyone with park admission.
11/23 LET IT GLOW LIGHT SHOW- The Discovery Park of America will be glowing with thousands of lights beginning Friday evening, November 23rdthrough December 30th. Load up all your friends, as admission is just $5.00 per car or $10 per 15-passenger van. The Let it Glow Light Show features over 700,000 lights, many of them dancing in sync with the Christmas music you’ll find on 88.1, Discovery Park’s special FM station, programed just for the light show. The Let it Glow Light Show will be open nightly from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. The light show will be closed on Mondays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. The Let it Glow Light Show is sponsored by the City of Union City.
Saturday, 11/24 BREAKFAST WITH SANTA- On Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 24th, Santa will make his first appearance at Discovery Park of America for “Breakfast with Santa” in the Discovery Park Cafe from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. A limited number of tickets are available for $10 each. Children 12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult. Guests can enjoy breakfast and a chance to take a picture with Santa and hand deliver a letter to Santa! All letters with a legible return address will receive a reply from the North Pole. Sunday, 11/25 POLAR EXPRESS- The Sunday afternoon Polar Express event at Discovery Park of America starts this Sunday, November 25th. The event, sponsored by ATA, is sold out. Guests who purchased their tickets in July are reminded to arrive :15 minutes before your scheduled show. Children are welcome to wear their pajamas to enjoy Polar Express at the Train Depot. Guests will enter through the main gate for all shows.
