Trim A Tree For Wildlife At Refuge Saturday

Springville, Tenn.–Have you got family in for the weekend and looking for something local and FREE to do?
Come on down to the Visitor Center at Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, November 24th from 11a.m. to 3 pm for a fun day with the whole family. The Friends of Tennessee NWR is hosting “Trim a Tree for Wildlife” an event that will focus on making Christmas ornaments out of things from nature as well as suggestions on how to trim your outdoor tree for wildlife. Entrance is FREE, and they’ll even have hot chocolate and tea cakes for snacking on by a cozy fireplace while listening to the soft guitar music of the very talented Drake Cunningham.

Located at 1371 Wildlife Drive in Springville, the refuge Visitor Center is open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday – Saturday.  Fully interactive wildlife exhibits combined with experiencing a beautiful bay of Kentucky Lake can make for a pleasant day in itself.  But during this event the entire center will be filled with kid-friendly craft tables.  The Blue Heron Book Store will also be open with plenty of newly stocked items for the unique Christmas gift.  Entrance to the Visitor Center and events are always free to the public.

The Refuge Discovery Series is a monthly free program held at the refuge that attempts to connect people with nature.  For more information about upcoming Refuge Discovery Series programs or about the refuge in general, please call the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters at 731-642-2091 or see our website at www.fws.gov/refuge/Tennessee or like us on facebook at www.facebook.com/tennesseenwr.
