Martin, Tenn.–The UT Martin women’s basketball team had a special home court advantage in its game against Christian Brothers University Monday.
More than 750 students from the Union City School System were in attendance to participate in festivities and watch the UTM women blow out CBU 108-82 at Skyhawk Arena.
The UCSS contingent – made up of third- and fourth-graders from the middle school and grades 9-12 from UCHS – joined Obion County and Weakley County School System students at the contest, which has been dubbed “Character Counts” by university officials.
The game annually hosts area students and has the highest attendance of any game of the season for UT Martin.
UTM officials announced today’s total attendance at 4,017.
The Union City High School band was asked to play at several intervals and did so, while students not only enjoyed the big UTM victory, but also vied for prizes and participated in numerous activities during timeouts and at halftime.
The Skyhawk women improved to 4-1 on the young season with the lopsided victory.
