Huntingdon, Tenn.–The Shepherd’s Table, the Community Kitchen created by the volunteers at the First Presbyterian Church, serves more and more guests with each passing month. October was their most successful month serving nearly 50 guests and about a dozen volunteers.
They will be hosting their next supper on Tuesday, November 20th, at 19835 E. Main Street. Dining will begin promptly at 5 pm and the kitchen will be open until 6:45pm. Anyone hungry or seeking fellowship for supper is invited.
Suzanne Jackson, co-chairman of the committee, says they will be serving a Thanksgiving dinner of
“turkey and all the fixin’s.” The menu will include turkey and homemade dressing, cranberry sauce,
mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and a delicious dessert.
Everyone that attends The Shepherd’s Table is treated as a guest and served restaurant style. Volunteer
John Wambles says, “all you have to do is get there! Just come on in and have a seat, a volunteer brings
you your drink and your supper.” The volunteers also do all of the cleanup, as well. The guests are asked
to simply enjoy a delicious meal compliments of the hard-working kitchen staff.
The mission of the Community Kitchen was to serve as many people in need of a hot meal as possible.
The community kitchen’s success is dependent upon guests attending, volunteers and donations. If you
know of someone that needs a hot meal or would just prefer to not eat alone please inform them about
The Shepherd’s Table or better yet bring them by and join.
David Carter, co-chairman of the committee, wants to thank all of the many volunteers that have
helped serve and cook food for The Shepherd’s Table. He asked that anyone interested in helping come by
the or contact the church. He “What a blessing it is to serve,” said David. “I invite you to get on the
calendar to help volunteer in the future.”
