Dover, Tenn.– Walk through a Civil War encampment, interact with soldiers, and learn of life and activities in a military camp similar to what would have been in and around Fort Donelson more than 150 years ago this weekend at the Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Dover.
Living history interpreters representing the Kentucky Company (Confederate States of America) will offer public programs on Saturday, November 17, at Fort Donelson. They will share of historic accounts, demonstrate various activities of camp life, and also demonstrate military drill and tactics. The programs will also include demonstrations of the firing of period weapons. Programs will be available for children as well.
The camp of the Kentucky Company will be open 9 am – 3 pm, near the Fort Donelson Visitor Center, 120 Fort Donelson Park Road, Dover. Military demonstrations and historic weapons firings will be offered at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm. All events are free and open to the public.
