Paris Landing Inn Gazebo Moved To Amphitheater, To Be Decorated For Holidays

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Buchanan, Tenn.—Maintenance staff at Paris Landing State Park have been hard at work moving the gazebo, rose bushes, and crepe myrtles to the amphitheater for visitors to enjoy. They were moved from the now-closed Paris Landing Inn, which will be demolished shortly.
Park staff also have been busy transplanting flowers and plants that had decorated the Inn to new locations.
The Inn will be replaced by a more modern, but smaller, hotel which state officials have said should be completed by 2020.
The gazebo will be decked out for the season with Christmas lights, a Christmas tree and other holiday decorations.
Park officials said the gazebo will be perfect for photo opportunities and holiday portraits will be taken by park staff on the afternoon of December 1. The Kentucky Lake shoreline and Ned McWherter bridge will make a beautiful backdrop for photos.
You can also have your photo taken with Pocahontas, one of the park’s rescued hawks. Staff will take the photos, print out 5” by 7” copies and set them in a holiday border for you to take with you. $5.00 donation per portrait. All proceeds help feed, house, and provide veterinary care for the raptors that are cared for at the park. Your donations help keep the raptor rehabilitation running.
The portrait sessions will be held from 3-5:30 p.m.
As WENK/WTPR reported last week, a new park manager has been hired – Zach Tinkle, who originally is from Benton Co. and has worked at other nearby state parks.
