Paris, Tenn.–A West Wood house that has been owned by the city of Paris for some 15 years was demolished Monday to make way for an expanded parking area for City Hall.
The house at 408 W. Wood St. was last owned by the Delk family and had been used for years as a training facility for both the Paris Police and Fire Departments.
City Manager Kim Foster said, “It was no longer needed for those activities and we felt that for safety purposes, it would be best to tear it down now. We’ve actually just been using it for storage in recent years and it was just in very bad shape at this point.”
The parking area will be utilized by City Hall employees with an entrance from West Wood St., Foster said.
