Nashville, Tenn.–People are turning out to vote in the state–and in our area–in record numbers.
In data released today by the Tennessee Secretary of State’s office, Stewart County ranks 15th, Henry Co. ranks 18th, followed by Benton Co. at 19th out of the state’s 95 counties in having the most early voters.
Stewart Co. has seen 21.89 percent of its voters turn out for early voting, while the percentage is 21.17 in Henry and 21.09 in Benton.
Farther down the list in our area is Weakley Co., which is ranked 47, with 18.68 percent; and Obion Co. at 53rd, with 18.27 percent.
The county with the most early voters is Loudon Co., with 32.36 percent.
A total of 903,251 people have voted during the early voting period statewide.
In Henry Co., the total is 4,543 and in Obion, it’s 3,988.
The early voting period started Oct. 17 and goes until November 1. Early voting is held in the election commission offices in each county. The general election is November 6.
