Paris, Union City Police Saturating Patrols Over Halloween Holiday

Paris and Union City, Tenn.—Police Departments in Paris and Union City are partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for its “Booze It and Lose It” campaign which will be ongoing through the Halloween holiday. The aim of the state-wide campaign is to increase impaired-driving enforcement.
Extra patrol officers will be looking for drunk driving offenders, speeding offenders, seatbelt violations along with other traffic violations to make this a safe start to the holiday season.
Union City Police Lt. Melvin Dowell said there will be police saturations conducted through November 1.
Union City Chief Perry Barfield said, “Drunk driving is not acceptable behavior. It is essential to plan a sober ride home before you ever leave for the Halloween costume party. We will make zero exceptions for drunk driving. There are no excuses.”
In Tennessee, the consequences for a single DUI conviction for even a first-time offender may include costly fines, court costs, legal fees, jail time, mandatory drug and alcohol treatment and/or the installation of an ignition interlock device on your vehicle.
