According to the Country Music Hall of Fame website, several took to the state to honor Skaggs, including Brooks and Chris Stapleton.
After being presented with his medallion, Skaggs was asked to take it off so as not to scratch the instrument he was being asked to play. Then the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum offered Skaggs the honor of playing the famed Gibson F-5 mandolin of his hero, Bill Monroe.
