KSP Investigating Early Morning Fire That Killed Two

Kuttawa, KY – Two people, an adult female and an infant, were killed in a house fire early this morning in Kuttawa. Two other people, an adult male and a toddler, escaped the fire. The Kentucky State Police is investigating.

The Kentucky State Police Post 1 received a 911 call at approximately 06:54 a.m. of a house fire on Stephens Road in Kuttawa.  A 27 year old male in the residence was able to get a two year old female out of the mobile home, but the fire was too intense for him to re-enter.  The male was transported to a local hospital, and then flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for his injuries.  The two year old was treated on the scene by EMS and released to her grandfather.
A 29 year old female and an approximately 9 month old male, were not able to escape the residence. An autopsy will be scheduled for the female and infant to determine cause of death. Preliminary investigation indicates the fire originated in the living room.  The Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office and KSP investigators are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

KSP Detective David Dick is continuing his investigation into the deaths and was assisted on the scene by the Kentucky State Fire Marshall’s Office, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County EMS, Kuttawa Fire Department, Eddyville Fire Department, Princeton Fire Department and the Lyon County Coroner’s Office.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police Post 1 at 270-856-3721 or anonymously at 1-800-222-5555.  Citizens may also report tips anonymously through the KSP app.
