3.3 Magnitude Earthquake This Morning Felt In Area

Ridgeley, Tenn.–The US Geological Survey confirmed there was a 3.3 magnitude earthquake at 6:06 a.m. this morning five kilometers east of Ridgeley and seven miles from Tiptonville.
Our area is situated on the New Madrid fault line, which was created in 1811-1812 when intense earthquakes of a 7.5-7.9 magnitude shook the area, followed by a magnitude 7.4 aftershock. They remain the most powerful earthquakes to hit the contiguous U.S. east of the Rocky Mountains in recorded history.
The earthquakes created Reelfoot Lake in Tiptonville.
