General Information on Tornado Dribblers Program
Ages: Any child who is in K through 5th grades can participate.
Purpose: We strive to teach young students the fundamentals of dribbling and passing, which are building blocks to cultivate a strong basketball program for our middle and high schools. We will provide direct instruction and involve the middle and high school athletes to form a common bond throughout our Union City Schools family. Hard work and persistence will be emphasized to cultivate the mentality these young athletes need to be successful in their lives.
Program Fees: The Tornado Dribblers fee is $25. This fee will provide a basketball and T-shirt to be used or worn at every practice and performance. This fee will also cover accident and liability insurance for each student. Fees are due on the day of registration, which will be Saturday, October 27th from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. You must come to registration to assure you receive a schedule of practice times and performances because this will be the ONLY form of communication. Make checks payable to Tornado Dribblers.
Performances: We will perform at half time of a UCMS and UCHS home basketball game. The dates and times will be released closer to time.
Practices: Practices will begin on the following date:
1st day of practice: Saturday, November 3, 2018
10 a.m.-11 a.m. for K-1
11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. for grades 2-4
Practices will continue every Saturday morning at Union City High School. Practice times and location may change according to gym availability. A finalized schedule will be given at registration.
Last day of practice: Saturday, December 15th
Expectations: There is no attendance policy, but to ensure confidence, we encourage your child to attend as much as possible. Parents will be welcomed to sit in the bleachers as we practice, but if your child seems distracted or can’t give the coach his/her full attention, it may be beneficial for the parent to sit in the lobby. We want to get the most out of our dribblers during practice.
