Obion, Tenn.–Christmas seems to arrive more quickly as each year passes. At Reelfoot Rural Ministries, they are already about a month into the planning stages for the 2018 Christmas Toy Store. This ministry is a wonderful blessing for neighbors in need, their children, volunteers, and staff.
Reelfoot Ministries is calling for volunteers and for donations of toys and funds to help with this year’s Christmas Toy Store, which will be held from December 3-6.
Reelfoot Rural Ministries assisted 540 families with Christmas gifts for their children through the 2017 Toy Store. Executive Director Robert Craig said, “In all, 1300 children had a brighter and more joyful Christmas last year thanks in large part to our donors and volunteers. Our hope is to touch hundreds more lives in 2018 by approving 650 families to shop.”
Craig said people can help in three ways. “First of all we need donations. Secondly, you can volunteer. Last, but absolutely not least, we need people praying for families, volunteers, staff, and donations,” he said.
Donations are greatly needed in the form of toys and monetary gifts. You, your small group, and your church can collect toys and bring them to RRM. The enclosed toy list offers suggestions for current desirable gifts for children and teens.
Reelfoot Rural Ministries is open to receive donations Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Saturday December 1st is the final set up day for the Toy Store. That is also the day designated as the deadline for toy donations. They can receive donations until noon on that day. Monetary donations can be mailed or delivered to the RRM center at 6923 Minnick-Elbridge Rd., Obion, Tenn., 38240. Each year we make daily trips to purchase toys as we run low in particular gender and age groups.
In addition to the actual Toy Store during the first week of December, volunteers are desperately needed during the week of November 26th thru November 30th to help transform our ministry center, dormitory, and parking lot into a grace-filled and hope-filled Christmas shopping center.
