Suspect Turns Self In After Shooting At Officer

Dresden, Tenn.—A suspect wanted in Wednesday night’s shooting incident in Dresden turned himself in today to the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office. During the incident, shots were fired at a Dresden police officer.
 
Torres Andre Washington, age 22, is charged with five counts of attempted murder and five counts of aggravated assault.
 
According to Captain Randall McGowan, Weakley County 911 received a call about an incident at 303 N. Wilson St. at 11:30 p.m. about a man armed with a pistol.
 
When Dresden Police Officer Bryan Chandler arrived on the scene, he observed people running in the yard of 303 North Wilson Street and as he exited his vehicle he heard gunshots coming from East Park Street.
 
A black male identified by people on the scene as Washington fired shots in the direction of the officer and then ran from where the shots came from into a wooded area behind East Park Street and could not be found.
 
On Thursday October 11th, as Dresden police officers, Weakley County Sheriff’s deputies and agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were looking for Washington, he turned himself in at the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department. Torres Andre Washington was charged by the Dresden Police with 5 counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and 5 counts of Aggravated Assault.
