Dresden, Tenn.—The Weakley County Democratic Party will hold a fundraiser honoring the legacy of the late former Governor Ned Ray McWherter at his hometown of Dresden on Thursday, October 18 next week.
Keynote speaker will be former Congressman John Tanner. Tanner served 11 terms in Congress, retiring in 2010. He currently works for the Nashville law firm Miller and Martin and the Prime Policy Group. He worked alongside Governor McWherter and will undoubtedly have great stories to share.
Other guest speakers include U.S. Senate candidate and former Governor Phil Bredesen, Gubernatorial Candidate Karl Dean, 8th District Congressional Candidate Erika Stotts Pearson and District 76 Representative Deane Arganbright.
Prior to dinner, a reception will be held at 4:30-6 p.m. at the Ned Ray McWherter Library and Museum at 341 Linden St., Dresden. Punch and light refreshments will be served. This will be a great opportunity for guests, speakers and visitors to socialize and tour the library and museum.
Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. at the McWherter Civic Center. Beef brisket with delicious sides and dessert will be served.
The night will be filled with wonderful stories of Ned Ray and a look ahead to the future. Raffles, auctions and activities to keep the kids entertained will be held.
