UC Cross Country Places Second In Golden Tornado Invitational

With a collection of their best times of the season, the Union City High School boys’ cross country team claimed runner-up honors in their own Golden Tornado Invitational Thursday at Graham Park.
 
UC totaled 40 points in all and recorded four Top 10 finishes on a sweltering afternoon that saw a half-dozen teams participate in the event.
 
Dalton Bone placed third overall with a time of 18:02. BJ Frankum was just a few seconds behind his teammate at 18:10, good for fifth place.
 
Matthew Parr came in sixth, clocked at 18:26, and Cedrion Cook placed eighth with a time of 19:31.
 
Also turning in good showings for the Purple and Gold were Taylor Pickering (21^st place, 21:12); Reice Gray (27^th place, 23:29:); Cameron McLendon (32^nd place, 24:19); and Quailvarious Brown (36^th place, 26:37).
 
For the Union City girls, Katelyn Edmond had the best showing, medaling with a personal best time of 24:37 that was good for 11^th place overall.
 
Lizzy Jones finished 25^th, Emilia Maldonado was 35^th and Natalie Johnson 37^th for the Lady Tornadoes.
 
Union City will next be in action Tuesday at Milan.
