Paris, Tenn.–Every year, public power companies from around the country celebrate Public Power Week during the
first full week of October. ln addition to providing electric service to over 21,000 customers in Paris and
Henry County, the Paris Board of Public Utilities (BPU) also serves over 5,000 water customers and 4,000 wastewater customers.
As part of the weeklong celebration, BPU has hundreds of entries for a color contest hanging in our
temporary office on the corner of E. Washington and N. Brewer.
BPU will also be moving around a Public Power Week banner hanging from some of our equipment as part of a contest. lf you see the banner, take a picture of yourself with the banner and post to Facebook using #BPUsince1938 to enter
for a chance to win an $80 credit on your BPU bill.
BPU will also host our second annual Public Utility
Week cookout Wednesday, October 10 in the parking lot on E. Wood St.
behind the office under construction. During the cookout, BPU will be handing out free food and
showcasing some of the equipment that is used to provide Paris and Henry County with safe, reliable,
and affordable electric, water, and wastewater services.
