Reward Now $17,500 In Kirby Wallace Manhunt; Area On Lockdown

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Montgomery/Stewart Co., Tenn.–The reward for information that leads to the capture of accused murder and arsonist Kirby Wallace has now risen to $17,500.
That was the word from Montgomery Co. Mayor Jim Durrett at a press conference this morning at 11 a.m. Durrett said Montgomery Co. is now offering $10,00 on top of the $7,500 that was already being offered in the case.
Montgomery Co. Sheriff John Fuson and Stewart Co. Sheriff Frankie Gray spoke at the press conference along with other law enforcement and county officials.
The area where the manhunt is concentrated now–the Poplar Springs Road area –is now on lockdown, they said. That area is near the Stewart/Montgomery Co. line.
Law enforcement involved in the manhunt are experiencing challenges from the terrain and the heat. One first responder already succumbed to the heat and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
Fuson said, “It’s a tough operation.”
Officials said they are accepting donations for the first responders. According to the Montgomery Co. Sheriff’s Office, “We are in need of Gatorade, Powerade, energy drinks, diet drinks, bananas, beef jerky, sandwiches, chicken strips, and other protein based meals. Please bring them to Blooming Grove Baptist Church at 3900 Lylewood Rd, Woodlawn TN.”
