Paris, Tenn.—The Paris Fire Marshal has begun an investigation into the cause of the early morning fire that destroyed a home on Blanton Street.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 5:20 a.m. and found the second floor of the home fully engulfed in flames. Fire Marshal Greg Andrews told WENK/WTPR this morning that the home is so well-constructed that most of the fire damage was to the second floor of the structure, while smoke and water damage is evident through the rest of the house.
The frame home at 610 Blanton St. is one of the oldest in the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood and is familiar to residents as the home where the late Kenny and Norma Clayton lived for years.

The occupant Justin Clayton woke up to smoke alarms going off and 911 was called. Clayton was not injured.
Three fire trucks were on site, including Ladder 1 which spurted water onto the roof of the house from above.
Andrews said the department was on the scene until around 10 a.m. this morning.
