Union City, Tenn.–The Union City High School marching band claimed the Bands of America Regional Class A championship in Clarksville on Saturday.
The Tornado band also won first place in best musical performance and best visual performance before then capping its first competition of the season by performing in exhibition in the finals.
“I was really happy that the kids were able to see the results of all the hard work they’d been putting in since July,” UCHS band director Jason Deem said of his group’s effort. “I thought we were probably a little nervous since it was our first time performing in competition, but I really do believe this will be a springboard for us as we look toward the big show in Indianapolis in November.”
Union City will compete in the Franklin Sonic Boom this Saturday, their initial performance set for 6:30 p.m.
