Indian Mound, Tenn.-The Stewart Co. Sheriff’s Office is cautioning everyone to stay out of the area of Indian Mound at Honey Fork and Seven Mile Ridge Road this morning, as deputies are searching the area for the suspect in the violent home invasions which resulted in the homicide of one person and injuries to two others.
Deputies are searching the area this morning on foot. Sheriff Frankie Gray is asking everyone who isn’t a resident of that area to stay away.
The suspect, Kirby Gene Wallace, reportedly crashed the car he was driving in that area, which is in eastern Stewart County near the Montgomery County line. He then took off on foot.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If anyone sees him, they should call 911.
Warrants were issued by the Stewart Co. Sheriff’s Office last night for a Big Rock man for the homicide and home invasion which happened in Indian Mound last week and another home invasion in Montgomery Co. Thursday.
Stewart Co. Sheriff Frankie Gray announced that several warrants have been issued for Wallace, age 53, of Big Rock. He is being charged with first degree murder, felony first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated arson, especially aggravated robbery, especially aggravated kidnapping, and especially aggravated burglary.
Wallace will be charged with the home invasion and attacks on Brenda and Teddy Smith, which resulted in the death of Brenda Smith and injuries to Teddy Smith. The couple returned from church last Sunday to find the suspect burglarizing their home. The suspect attacked the couple and then set fire to their home.
And in Montgomery Co., the charges are: especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated burglary, and theft of property.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred at a home in the 1600 block of River Road on Thursday, September 27, 2018.
The victim, who is an elderly woman in her 80’s, was returning home from church when Wallace stopped her at her car and forced her into her home at knife point.
Inside the home Wallace displayed a loaded rifle and made numerous threats to harm her and others. He disassembled the victim’s phone to prevent her from calling for help. He tied her to her bed before fleeing in her vehicle.
Sheriff Gray said Wallace is 5’10” tall, weighs 160 pounds, has hazel eyes, brown hair and his last known address was 2115 Hwy. 120, Big Rock.
