Union City, Tenn.–Union City High School senior Will Hogan received some terrific news recently when he was notified that he is a Commended Student in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Hogan’s status was achieved by him scoring in the top 50,000 among the 1.6 million to take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in the fall of 2017. His score put him in the top 3 percent in the nation of all students to participate in the program.
Some 16,000 students were recently designated as semifinalists on a state representational basis, including Union City’s Jacob Virgin.
The other 34,000 of the aforementioned 50,000 were named Commended Students.
