Belew: Further Investigation Reveals It Was Hoax Bomb; $1,500 Reward Offered

Buchanan, Tenn.–In an update to the previous press release regarding the explosive device, the Henry Co. Sheriff’s Office has said it now has been confirmed, after further investigation, that instead of being an explosive device the package left on the front door of the Security Bank branch on Hwy. 79N was an elaborate hoax bomb with components that are used in actual explosive devices. Sheriff Monte Belew said the device had all of the components used in real explosive devices except for the C-4.
Belew also said the sheriff’s office is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects.
Belew said the Security Bank will be open tomorrow and that the sheriff’s office will station deputies at that location for the next several days.
The investigation is ongoing in a joint effort including the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, along with the FBI and ATF.
