UC Schools Traveling Party Visits City Of Brotherly Love

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Union City football players and cheerleaders experienced a little “Brotherly Love” Friday before playing against Penns Grove (NJ).

More accurately, the Tornado travel party that included coaches, administration and some family members got another up-close look at some significant American history.

A day after touring the 9/11 Museum and Times Square in New York City, a quick 45-minute trip from Pennsville to Philadelphia afforded the UC group the opportunity to a witness a number of historical sites and landmarks in the city.

The UC group crammed visits of Independence Hall, Congress Hall, the Liberty Bell Center and the National Constitution Center into a short period of time before then making a brief stop at the famed “Rocky” statue for a group photo on their way out of town.

Tour guides dressed in complete costumes accompanied the two Union City groups around Philly, offering both details and keen insight of the venue where the Constitution was born.

Members of the UC travel parties also visited the burial place of Ben Franklin — who died in Philadelphia in 1790 — saw the George Washington statue and later watched a live short presentation of the period(s) before, during and after the constitution was signed.

The Union City group returned home from its annual excursion that combines football and education early Sunday morning, after a 19-hour charter bus ride.
