Union City, Tenn.–Saturday is the big day for the week-long Obion County CornFest, with Family Day in the Park and a myriad of other activities all day.
Family Day in the Park (Kiwanis Park, that is) kicks off early with a 5k that starts at 8AM. Rides and games begin at 10 a.m.
Pets in the Park pet parade begins at 9 a.m. and stick around to see how fast local kids can eat a pie with their hands behind their back.
Enter your delicious cornbread into the 1st Annual Cornbread Cookoff at 9 a.m. and you don’t want to miss the famous Bed Races as teams compete to see who has the fastest bed in the county. Bed races are at 1 p.m., with the corn eating and corn shucking at noon. Cornhole tournament is from 1-3 p.m. Other events during the day include pumpkin painting and cake walks.
Bring a lawnchair and enjoy watching local talent in the Cornfest Idol as singers compete for a $1,000 grand prize later that night.
